Are you having a rough day? Do you feel like life keeps pushing you down with all its ruthlessness?
Well, everyone has to go through that depressing stage once in a while, or even many times, in their life. The thing is not what life gives you or how it treats you. What matters is how you’re going to rise above all the obstacles that fate has set for you.
I’ve been there. I’ve been through impediment. I’ve been through heartbreak. Fortunately enough, I made it through. But honestly, I was really stressed out during those times. I just wanted to let all the things go, leaving me, myself, and I alone.
And these quotes that I’ve seen from these famous commencement speeches, they have really calmed me down and got me back on track.
You may have setbacks, and you may have failures, but you’re not done — you’re not even getting started, not by a long shot.
That’s the great American story. Young people just like you following their passions, determine to meet the times on their on terms. A willingness to follow your passion, regardless of whether they lead to fortune and fame.
… some failure in life is inevitable. It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default.
Failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than I was and began diverting all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me.
Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinion drown down your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
Really, when I look back to it, I wouldn’t change a thing. I mean, it was so important to me to lose everything because I found out what’s the most important thing is to be true to yourself, and ultimately, that’s what got me to this place. I don’t live in fear. I’m free. I have no secrets and I know I will always be okay because no matter what, I know who I am.
The moment that you feel, just possibly, you are walking down the street naked, exposing too much of your heart and your mind, and what exists on the inside, showing too much of yourself…That is the moment, you might be starting to get it right.
